A Family Law Specialist
We understand that you hire us to resolve your problem. We do not have a standard approach or a one size fits all solution. After 20 years of experience as a family law specialist, we have learned that every client’s problem is unique. Every client’s preferred outcome is unique. We’ll start by discussing your situation in depth. We’ll also need to know your preferred outcome and what’s most important to you. Together we will then develop a plan to resolve your problem in a way that is acceptable to you. Your initial consultation is free.
A Skilled Negotiator
Usually, we will focus from the beginning on reaching an agreement. Settlement is quicker, cheaper, and usually resolves the issues for the long term. Litigation is expensive, time consuming, and very often results in further litigation down the road. As a Brunswick divorce lawyer, Lee Ashmore has extensive training and experience in mediation that enables him to find a path to settlement. He has completed extensive training both in general mediation and in family law mediation. He has worked professionally as a mediator for the EEOC. He has trained mediators as an instructor. In his twenty years as a divorce attorney he has settled hundreds of cases and drafted innumerable settlement agreements.
A Strong Advocate
Sometimes settlement is not possible. Emotions can run high in divorce cases. The other side may insist on pursuing litigation to obtain emotional satisfaction. Or it may be that your spouse is a bully and will try to steam roll you in court. If so, as a Brunswick divorce lawyer, Lee Ashmore is ready for the battle. He has been through the divorce wars and will stand up to the bully if need be. He has litigated over 500 family law cases, many involving complex financial issues such as the valuation of a privately held business, and difficult custody cases. A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, he has been chair of the American Bar Association’s Committee on Family Law Litigation, the editor of the American Bar Association’s Family Litigation Newsletter, and winner of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation’s prestigious Star Award.
A Realistic Plan
Our plan will also be designed to fit within your resources and your budget. We accept credit cards as payment and can often develop creative ways to enable you to pay for the legal work that you need. For instance, if all the marital assets are in your spouse’s name, leaving you unable to pay an attorney’s retainer, we can seek a court order requiring your spouse to pay your fees. Installment payment plans are available. For low income clients, Lee Ashmore will work as a reduced fee divorce attorney.
